AZA4ICE is featured in the European Commission background paper “Implementing the Strategic Guidelines for EU Aquaculture – Circular Economy in Aquaculture”, which addresses the transition towards a more circular and sustainable aquaculture sector.
Co-financed by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, AZA4ICE brings together spatial planning, circular production approaches and stakeholder participation. Through the development of Allocated Zones for Circular Aquaculture (C-AZA), the project explores how aquaculture can use resources more efficiently while creating opportunities for a resilient and inclusive blue economy.
The project’s approach connects environmental sustainability with the practical needs of territories, producers, public authorities and other stakeholders. Transnational cooperation and knowledge exchange help translate circular economy principles into solutions adapted to the Euro-Mediterranean context.
Its inclusion in the publication provides an opportunity to share AZA4ICE’s work with a wider audience interested in circular aquaculture and sustainable sector development.
