Institute of Fish Resources – Varna organized a beach clean-up activity

01/07/2026
On 13 May, our partner Institute of Fish Resources – Varna organized a beach clean-up activity as part of the #AZA4ICE project, bringing together participants committed to protecting marine and coastal ecosystems.
The clean-up took place at the Kamchia Estuary, south of Varna Bay, where the Kamchia River flows into the Black Sea. Known for its natural beach, fishing village, and the surrounding Kamchia Biosphere Reserve, the area represents an important coastal ecosystem requiring protection and responsible stewardship.
The activity emphasized the value of collective action in reducing marine litter, raising environmental awareness, and promoting sustainable practices within local communities.
Through initiatives like this, AZA4ICE continues to strengthen the connection between marine protection, local engagement, and the transition towards a more sustainable and circular blue economy.
A big thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to cleaner and healthier coastal environments!
