In April, Pôle Mer Méditerranée took part in a citizen awareness event organised with Sète Agglopôle Méditerranée during the international maritime festival Escale à Sète, promoting the #AZA4ICE project and introducing the public to sustainable aquaculture and local seaweeds.
Led by Chef Anne Majorel, the event invited chefs from the Thau Lagoon area to create original seaweed spreads using Ulva — also known as sea lettuce. Through tasting sessions, visitors discovered the gastronomic potential of local seaweeds and explored the diversity of marine resources from the lagoon.
This initiative offered a great opportunity to engage citizens in discussions about sustainable food systems, innovative aquaculture practices, and the blue economy, while highlighting how diversified aquaculture can support resilient coastal communities and strengthen the connection between people and the sea.
