Meet Our Partner: Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera (IPMA)

14/11/2025

The AZA4ICE Project is proud to collaborate with the Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera (IPMA), represented by Dr. Anna Katerina, a researcher at IPMA. During a recent visit, Dr. Katerina provided an inside look at the aquaculture research station in Ria Formosa – a unique coastal facility that plays a key role in advancing sustainable shellfish farming.

Through the AZA4ICE initiative, IPMA has been piloting innovative approaches that bring together multiple stakeholders to enhance aquaculture productivity while safeguarding ecological balance. This work demonstrates how responsible aquaculture can successfully coexist with other economic activities, benefiting both marine environments and coastal communities.
